Why do we like this?
I just realized it's Veteran's Day in the USA. What does it matter to the international music world if the USA takes the day off? Well, like it or not, it appears that the impact is pretty real.
A band in Europe, for example, isn't going to want to release their new track while the USA is on holiday. After all, that's a HUGE percentage of their English-speaking listeners.
Rather, it seems that prudent artists choose to release their music when there are the most eyeballs available (eg, a Tuesday at ~8am Pacific Time). But -- could not the inverse be true? If everyone's staying quiet when the world is on holiday, doesn't it mean that you have the best chance of standing out? I'm pretty sure that music bloggers don't take breaks; we're constantly looking for new music.
So, here's my tip to bands out there: keep an eye out for the slower days. It might seem counter-intuitive, but these might be the best days to get exposure for your music.
In the meanwhile, I'll throw you back to this club version of Bloc Party's "Tulips."
