Blaenavon are probably my favorite UK act of 2013. Taking their cue from fellow guitar-driven British compatriots Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club, Blaenavon are electrifying me with their rhythmic, soul quenching indie pop that stirs like a gentle breeze on a winter's morn.
"Wunderkind," the second release from their debut EP Koso, is a mellow indie number that excels at highlighting frontman Ben Gregory's somber vocals and engaging tone. While no doubt a little too melancholy for some, Blaenavon's effecting instrumentation, coupled with Gregory's subtle vocals and dark lyrics, make the trio one of England's most exciting prospects.
