Why do we like this?
It's been a long time since I've dug something that has an Elliott Smith vibe. After all, the style is usually quite of a bummer.
Blackaby manages to pull that all off without sounding sombre, and the end result is pleasant to my ear at just about every turn it takes.
"My Paula" comes as the London-based trio's first song. Fronted by William Blackaby, they played their first live gig just a couple days ago, an outing that I hope was a success. I'd dig to hear more of what they've got in store.
