Why do we like this?
Black Milk isn't even cooling off from last year's stellar No Poison, No Paradise, and he's already back at it. Glitches In The Break is an EP better groomed than most LPs. The tracks are a balanced selection of instrumental and rap cuts, featuring both himself and his comrades. My favorite, without a doubt, is "G" featuring the inimitable Guilty Simpson.
Guilty is one of the nicest rappers breathing air -- I will fight you (with words) if you disagree. He hardly has a wasted bar, and that's never more apparent than on "G." Turning the eye inwards, Guilt shares his transition from nihilistic youth to aspiring rapper to esteemed MC. Sneaking in references to "It Ain't Hard To Tell" and storytelling with a veteran's patience, Guilt paints a picture that is both tough as a $2 steak and utterly humane.
These two are a classic duo. Rumor mill says Guilty's next full length is completely produced by Black, and that, my friends, would be amazing.
