Fresh off a stellar 2013 LP,
No Poison No Paradise, Black Milk's newest song embraces the brick cold bite that has conquered the Eastern half of the nation.
"Cold Day" is audiophile gutter. A rubbery bass line is complemented with a quirky-not-corny sample that may remind listeners of Dilla's "Hydrant Game" beat, but more of a reference than an imitation. The drums crack as always, and Black's bars are getting very close to his production. The producer/MC has gone from being "the next such and such" to establishing himself as the first and only Black Milk.
"Cold Day" comes from the
Glitches In The Break EP Black is set to drop on March 4. The title seems to allude to a continuing analogue/digital binary that Black has been exploring since
Tronic. Few artists deliver quality with the consistency of Black, so don't sleep.
