Why do we like this?
Is there anything better than some male/female overlapping vocals? I mean, really. It works for The xx, and it definitely works for Big Deal, coincidentally also UK natives. However, Big Deal is less dark electro pop and more innocent acoustic folk; I'm not saying one sound is better than the other, but thick guitar strumming is always welcome, in my opinion.
Big Deal (aka Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe) is releasing debut album Lights Out in October, but have put up a bunch of promising tracks on their SoundCloud; however the featured track here ("13," a Big Star song from 1972) is unfortunately not on album, or on the SoundCloud page anymore. Lucky for you, we have it streaming.
Don't be fooled by the soft acoustics on "13" -- check out "Chair" and "Locked Up" here and you'll hear some lovely electric fuzz.
