Sounds like:
Hot Chip,
Miike Snow,
Joywave
Why do we like this?
Sometimes when two separate bands come together it just works. Like when Modeselektor and Apparat joined to create Moderat.
Big Data is one of those bands: a side-project made up of Joywave's Daniel Armbruster and the DJ Alan Wilkis. They've tapped into one of my favorite approaches -- it's generally awesome to see two artists with different musical backgrounds come together and share their inspiration.
"The Stroke Of Return" is the first single to be released by the band, and if you're like me, you might find that it has a sound reminiscent of Hot Chip -- particularly where parts of the chorus are concerned. The similarity pretty much stops there, however.
Together, Daniel and Alan have created a song that sounds a lot like Joywave, but with more interesting percussion and mixing. I've only ever listened to Alan Wilkis do remixes (eg, Phantogram's "Mouthful of Diamonds"), but my best guess is that he's responsible for the beats.
Anywho, if you dig it, be sure to follow the band's social feed.
