Ever since she came to the wider music communities' attention after writing Rihanna's “Bitch Better Have My Money,” singer songwriter Bibi Bourelly has grown from strength to strength. Along with writing for the likes of Selena Gomez, Usher and Nas and Camila Cabello, Bourelly has released two universally praised EP's Free The Real: Part #1 and Free The Real: Part #2.
Her latest project may be her crowning achievement as a songwriter so far. The four track live EP Boy (In Studio) is an emotion packed release that discusses the relationships Bourelly has fallen in and out of during her 23 years. Each song is accompanied by an anecdote explaining its meaning along with a video of Bourelly performing the track live in the studio.
Opening track "Sunshine" is a powerful yet minimal track that finds Bourelly accompanied only by a bluesy guitar riff as she sings about going through a rough time and being with someone just to ease the pain. With limited instrumentation, "Sunshine" puts all the focus on Bourelly's voice, and what a voice! The Berlin-born poet rivals the best in the business with her range, and with her lyrical prowess she only continues to impress.
