I'll confess that in the past I've been one to rag on Best Coast for churning out the same old shit. But "California Nights" is different.
The song comes as the first single off the band's just-announced album by the same name: California Nights. It clocks in at a lazy 5-minutes in length, with a sound that might best be described as "shoegaze." And for that fact -- that's it's a departure from their standard surf rock -- I must admit that I'm actually quite into it.
