UK producer Benton first made his name turning out dubstep. But since last year, Benton has been pretty quiet, with no official releases or tracks.
Benton's moved on from dubstep now, throwing his hat in with Loefah and his Swamp 81 crew; the producer has been in the studio honing an entirely new sound. And when we say entirely new, we don't just mean for Benton, we mean for music in general.
As one YouTube comment memorably puts it, Benton has "rolled 90s bass music into one sound." Taking the breaks and energy of jungle and hardcore and slowing them down to fit into a tech house structure, it is a truly new and very exciting sound, and one with potential to go a very long way.
"The Callin'" is probably the most exciting example Benton's come up with, and the first to be released (at long last). There are however, plenty more where this one came from, with a few floating round on Youtube. One particular highlight is "Brian." Meanwhile, you can get yourself a copy of "The Callin'" on vinyl just here.
