I wrote about "Under The Layers" by New York-based musician Benjamin Verdoes a few weeks ago, and now feel compelled to re-introduce him with another track. You'll be surprised to hear this is from the same artist.
We have "Under The Layers" firmly coined as indie rock, while "Night Walk" takes a wonderful, experimental step in the complete opposite direction, with an unmistakeable foundation in electronic production and beatmaking.
While both tracks could be seen as quite introspective and dark, it is wonderful to see an artist interpret his songwriting in such different manners rather than just limiting the creative process with specific genre norms.
Warped, atmospheric production, breathy vocals and haunting harmonies describe the essence of the track, which comes from his latest EP The One And The Other.
