Why do we like this?
You know, I'm not even sure where Benjamin Booker went in between now and the release of his bluesy, rockabilly self-titled debut back in 2014.
Based on the number of times "Right On You" reminds us that, well, death is right behind us, it seems that wherever Booker's been may not have been particularly kind to him. And even if it wasn't, at least that time away and his self-professed frustration with modern life have given us one good thing (so far): this absolute smash of a song.
Equal parts punk, rock, and psych, "Right On You" clocks in at a mere two-and-a-half minutes, every second more howling and energetic than the last. I couldn't imagine a better track to amp me up for the release of his next album,Witness, on June 2.
