Bei Ru is an L.A.-based producer and DJ, most known for converging his Armenian roots with modern influences.
He has two LPs to his name so far, Little Armenia (LA) and Saturday Night At The Magic Lamp. He's also scored films and puts on a serious live show. L.A. Weekly once called his music the sound of a diaspora filtered through The Chronic. That's a pretty gangster accolade.
Use "Pomegranate A.M." as a taste test if you're unfamiliar. Bei Ru flips an oud sample over some synths and trap-like hi-hats, creating a pulsating and driving rhythm.
