Nashville is America’s epicenter for country music, but it’s nice to see musicians of other genres shine in that city as well. Becca Mancari adds a swanky touch to bedroom pop. The intro to “Lonely Boy” feels sort of like the intro to a tropical Beach Boys song that quickly takes an alternative twist.
But unlike the Beach Boys, Mancari is responsible for all the harmony. She keeps her voice airy while the guitar grows harsher and harsher by the end. The mix of soft and edgy creates a unique balance. The song itself sounds a tiny bit fuzzy, as if it’s being played on a dusty record player and giving it more of a casual vibe.
This track is off her new album, The Greatest Part, which came out last month.
