Here's the thing about Bearson. He makes cool tracks like this one, and he’s also, you know, the co-founder of a record label. Any one of those things on its own seems hard enough to me. But both? Man, you gotta be working hard.
Bearson is an example of an artist that has taken electronic music and post tropical house to a place where I really wanted it to go. Tracks like "Want You" are clever and sophisticated, while retaining that lushness that everyone likes about anything that's remotely tropical.
I’m sure as an electronic artist it's tempting to build work up with all kinds of layers and sounds. Bearson does an excellent job of never doing that. Instead he strips it all back and puts a lot of the focus on vocals without pumping your ears full of unnecessary sound.
On vocals, he seems to like working alongside female artists. He’s teamed with with Mark Johns on a previous release and this track features Cal. Mostly I'm excited because there's more work to come from him. Bearson is promising an EP sometime soon.
