I'm Sorry for This (The Coffee was Great Thou)
So you know what's strange? The stay-around breakup, also known as the let's be friends break up. What isn't strange is this bop.
It's a weird dynamic when someone is in a position of needing to break up with someone else, not because they don't like them, but because they just know a friendship is better, small hurt before a big hurt.
What is so fascinating about the composition of this song is it encapsulates the happy/sad feeling of these breakups so so well. It takes what is essentially a heartbreaking moment and hides it behind smiles, vibes, and a bop that doesn't in any way make you feel bad, and then when you finally realize the actual intention, it cuts out, leaving you with that and nothing else.
It's not every day a high-energy song takes a deeply emotional situation and creates a well-constructed and sonically pleasing sound.
Please don't go, I wanna stay friends.
