A transcendence of cultures procreating within an infectious tribal house rhythm is manifested in the music collective Batuk. The single "Daniel" is the rambunctious lovechild.
While Spoek Mathambo and Aero Manyelo are solid artists in the South African house music scene at home and abroad, Batuk is a newborn project igniting lose-yourself-on-the-dancefloor-moments, with the added flavor of two talented female vocalists. Nandi Ndlovu and Carla Fonesca harmonize in South African and Mozambican vernacular, respectively.
The video, shot on location in my favorite home country, Mozambique, reflects the multi-ethnic musicians, through a contrast of wealth of warmth and light within darkness.
Afro house has a major wave on the horizon in Batuk's forthcoming album, set for release mid this year. Watch this space for more, but in the meantime, get down to the Pan-African spiritual game.
Also, for those in Geneva, Berlin & Zurich, Batuk is in your area this month. Check out their Facebook for more.
