Why do we like this?

"Lake, Steel, Oil" is the latest single off Basement Revolver's upcoming EP. Consistent with the title, it's got a chilling yet organic feel.

The song evokes nostalgic visions of youth; the comfort of a familiar city and geometric metal skeletons glinting below grey skies. Vocalist Chrissy Hurn repeats the phrase "These days are numbered, so don't waste them on slumber" throughout, reflecting on time and reminding the audience that everything is temporary.

Regardless of the heavily distorted guitars, their music has an almost meditative quality to it. Their lyrics are visual, poetic, and succinct, lending themselves well to the wistful atmosphere.

Their self-titled EP will be available July 15th.
