I speak about this often, but being in the comfort of an established artist is a type of surrender I can give myself over to again and again. It goes a little something like this: You see a name that you know, you hit play, and there's nothing left to do but enjoy the sounds that stem from a mastery of craft, coupled with a knack for experimentation and editing.
With Barry Can't Swim's "Woman" there is no analysis to be done, nothing to be removed or added, it's simple: listen. The intro has us waiting just long enough before the song drops into a beautiful house beat with the chopped vocals of collaborator Låpsley.
I've also said how much I love obscure vocal samples ad nauseam, and for good measure, one has been thrown in. So two for two, "Woman" has satisfied my checklist and I hope that, with its many layers and details, it can do the same for you. Enjoy.
