Why do we like this?

Jillian Banks is crushing it right now. And she's been doing it with the help of some big name collaborators: Jamie Woon, SOHN, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Jensen Sportag, and now Shlohmo.

"Brain" is an intense self-actualization, an epic ballad of independence, and also frustration, that will hit you hard. It's a delicate pairing of her undressed vocals over an electronic soundscape that could stand alone. It should come as no surprise, though, that it's BANKS' presence that dominates the track rather than Shlohmo's quintessential ambient mastery.

I can't help feel that the recent deluge of releases is a calculated attempt to get this girl some real attention. It's working, and it's well deserved. Listen.
