Why do we like this?
It may already be a year old by SoundCloud standards, but for me, this spine-tingling debut from Azura, the midnight project of 17-year-old Brisbane native Lauren Coutts, is timeless.
“Nineteen” is like a perfectly balanced amalgamation of the signature piano melodies of Agnes Obel and the muffled keys of Alice Boman, with a "Daughter-like reverb" to boot.
It’s a breathy, bite-sized piece of pure beauty that, hackneyed as it may be, calls to mind winter’s first snowfall -- and it’s now sitting pretty in my seasonal playlist.
