I'm really excited to share "The War Inside," the latest single from UK artist Azekel. The track is first single off his forthcoming EP Raw, Vol. 2 (aptly following the recently-released Raw, Vol. 1), and I love everything about it.
Anchored by a powerful, thudding bass, Azekel’s falsetto melody is a captivating counterpoint. “If there’s a war inside, there’s a war outside,” he professes, above increasingly fluid, diverse and sensual instrumental layers. There’s so much going on between the funky synth rhythms and distorted guitar solos, and it comes together in a way that’s not only refreshingly unique, but incredibly satisfying. Meticulously crafted, this is a thoroughly cool song.
Vol 2. will reportedly focus on social commentary, as opposed to the themes of love and emotion on Vol. 1. It's set for release in early 2016, so make sure to keep your eyes (and ears) out.
