Why do we like this?
Bradford Cox is a man of endless musical possibilities. His moniker, Atlas Sound, has just recently released its third album, Parallax, and I can't help but think of spaced out and cosmic qualities in relation to this album. Parallax is not to be compared to Bradford's previous Atlas Sound records because, well, it's a cut above the rest.
Atlas Sound is able to combine the classic indie acoustic basics with otherworldly atmospheric ambience that brings those two categories to a beautifully twisted anomaly. To him, it seems as though it just comes naturally and that translates to a lucidity within these tracks that will keep you entranced throughout the entire album. Some of it is dark and lustrous, other tracks are upbeat and anthemic. Either way, Bradford Cox is paving his own way towards psych-rock king. He's pushing the envelope fearlessly and ambitiously; what other way is there to do it?
I truly hope you give this album a listen. Atlas Sound is in a league of their own with his creativity, intellect and boundlessness. There's a deeper meaning to each song and the beauty of that is that it's up for your own translation and how you, in turn, relate to your own interpretation. Take some time and let Atlas Sound move you to a point of otherworldly elation.
