If you like Elliott Smith, you're going to love Alec Grefe. Under the moniker Astronaut Husband, Grefe released his latest full length in December 2016, including the single, "Loser" - complete with a homemade stop motion music video.
From his Wisconsin bedroom, Grefe has assembled a composition that seems to float from his window to yours. "Loser" lightly strums along, with a catchy synth melody and piano layered inside the lines. It flows and builds to a seamless key change, lifting the tone to land lightly on the ears.
"People say just keep trying," Grefe suggests, against the title of the tune. And "Loser" is anything but: it’s a late night winner, a lazy day top pick, a cuddle session complement.
And at only two minutes and 20 seconds, "Loser" is a short and sweet listen - perfect in its own right and also nicely nestled in the middle of Collection of You. If you like what Grefe has got, be sure to check out his past work and his other music in the band Haunter.

The first 30 seconds of "Dustbowl" had me thinking "This is nice," and then Ben Smolin's voice reaches a higher pitch and becomes deeper in emotion, and I thought, "This is serious." Ben and Alison Smolin's stories coalesce and echo the sentiment, "I...
