You've gotta be kidding me. I'm so surprised to see that Asaf Avidan's been practically shunned by the blogosphere. Maybe it’s too NPR? Maybe I'm not good at Googling anymore? I don't know. All I know is Pitchfork hasn't said shit yet, and you have to hear this.
Asaf's an Israeli folk singer-songwriter whose debut album was called “the best album you’ll ever hear" by the blog vivascene. He's got an intricate sound, with tracks like this evoking some strange mix of soul and folk. I'm in fucking love with his sound -- it reminds me of when I first heard The Arcade Fire.
