Why do we like this?
I'll admit: I don't know that much about Tears For Fears. Their last album Everybody Loves A Happy Ending was released way back in 2004, well before I was "in the music game." Which means that when I saw they'd covered Arcade Fire's "Ready To Start," I had no idea what to expect.
The original was, of course, released on the band's hugely successful 2010 album The Suburbs. It's an upbeat song -- one they chose to play during their Grammy's performance for good reason.
With that context, you'll forgive me for having thought that this cover would be something experimental a la The Dirty Projectors, because that's the way it starts. Little did I expect some good old drum and bass to enter the scene, but thank god it did. Frankly, it makes the cover what it is -- and is absolutely the reason I decided to share it with you.
