In my opinion, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala's working relationship epitomizes my millennial generation: when we work together, we often create ingenious works and innovations that are whimsical, disruptive, chaotic at times, and imaginative.
But working together in a symbiotic manner can be very difficult, especially when your creative spirits are clashing. This is something I often explained to my ex, who is an acclaimed painter -- working alone can be maddening, but working in concert can be outright homicidal.
However, Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala once again have captured and bottled that magic we have come to expect from them. And the Antemasque project might be their best yet.
With a release date of November 10, Antemasque, their self-titled debut, burst forth with tracks like "In The Lurch" before settling in the proverbial pocket on the Zepplin-inspired NOLA shout-out "Drown All Your Witches."
With Red Hot Chili Peppers' hall of fame bassist Flea on the record and regular collaborator Dave Elitch on the skins, the Antemasque debut is arguably the most exciting rock record of 2014.
