Why do we like this?

Fresh off of her success with the singles "Magnetic" and "IOU," Annabel Jones' latest single, off her new EP Libelle, is firing up the charts. The track, "Happy," is a melodic, electronica laced pop anthem which embraces the more bittersweet side of its themes and asks us review our ideas of happiness, loneliness, and being loved.

This focus on finding the melancholy within upbeat pop music, and expanding on that contradiction, puts Annabel Jones in the same echelon as other female electronic talents in the game like "Dancing On My Own"-era Robyn. It gives her edge, vulnerability, and complexity which interweaves within the flow of her tracks: a trait wonderfully displayed on "Happy."
