With several albums under their repertoire, Animal Collective has proven time and time again that they are the ultimate oddball group. They coherently experiment with various genres in order to create a sound that is unlike anything else out there.
Taken from their recently-released album,
Centipede Hz, "Applesauce" is a song that is pretty outlandish, but overall more accessible than others. The experimental nature of this group has reflected influences including psychedelic, and garage rock, among others, and continuous use of radio interference and white noise. After a couple of listens, it amazes me that
Centipede Hz didn't receive that much attention from critics, especially since I gather a lot of resemblance to 2009's
Merriweather Post Pavilion, with expressive huzz and buzz reminiscent of 2007's
Strawberry Jam.This crazy collective announced earlier last month that they will be releasing "Applesauce" as their next single which, will be available on 10" vinyl and for digital download on November 12.
