ANIMA! have consistently been one of my favorite indie acts over the last ~decade or so, which means I'm quite glad to see they're releasing new jams.
This latest single "Blue Orchids" follows up last month's "Personal." What really hooked me was the instrumental of this track, a lush landscape of complex bleeps and bloops that basically sets the standard for what's good in 2024.
You'd think this made lead singer Arielle's job easy, but she doesn't seem to have slacked on the job. Through "Blue Orchids" she delivers a beautiful melody that perfectly compliments Vicente Espi's instrumental prowess.
The duo are releasing a new EP called The Squeeze, due sometime this year. I managed to get a sneak peek, and it's definitely one worth catching once it hits the shelves!
