Why do we like this?
Beck, is that you? Okay clearly it isn't. It's a dude named Angus1. He sure as heck fooled me.
Of note in this song is the sample of West African sounds -- a language called Fulbe. According to Wikipedia, it's a "Senegambian" language, and I must confess that I hadn't a clue about it until writing this article.
That's actually the whole point of this song (besides the lyrics, which focus on coming-of-age): to raise awareness of the language in Australia (of all places). Angus1 is Australian, so I guess it makes more sense in that context. He's clearly a good lad, because 30% of royalties earned from this song will be donated to Fulbe Australia, a foundation dedicated to raising awareness around the language.
