Why do we like this?

Here's one out of left field: Aussie electronic act Jagwar Ma remixing Detroit rapper Angel Haze's "Echelon." The trio's debut, Howlin', is 80s psychedelica with a electronic twist, kinda like if Tame Impala went electro, so remixing one of the best female rappers isn't something I saw coming.

Jagwar Ma infuses the beat with melodic 80s synths and computer effects, but the biggest surprise is what they've done to Haze's vocals, slowing them down so they come across almost male-like. Gritty and unnerving, yet uptempo and catchy, this is one of the strangest and most enjoyable remixes I've heard this year.
