A noted composer, Andrew Joslyn has opened for Suzanne Vega and worked with the likes of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis over the years. In fact, "Desiderata" (featuring Mark Lanegan) is a beat that Andrew and Ryan did together for Macklemore's The Heist; however it was not used, allowing Andrew to reimagine it and use it for his own record.
Lyrically, "Desiderata" is a Max Ehrmann poem which hung in Andrew's parents house for years, becoming an internalized mantra of sorts. Collectively, the song -- along with Mark Lanegan's world weary, calming voice -- represents the spiritual anchor of the record. Joslyn's brother is rising stand-up Chris Kattan, who appears in the video for "Desiderata." Check the video here.
For these haunting times, anything helps.
