I sat a long time before starting to write this post. Then I stopped trying and went for a brief meditation to clear the mind. It was fruitless though, so I missioned down the street for a smoke, picked up a beer on my way home, and eventually sat down in front of the computer again; still nothing.
I thought maybe I just care too much about what this review says. Amy and her band are a group of beautiful people who deserve a post of a calibre that has seemingly left me speechless.
"Rose" is yet another song from an artist who has no trouble leaning into a track with learned, emotive poise. Her songs are almost always backed by a purposeful message, and when I pick up her music I'm normally left picturing myself standing resolute at the front of an army on some ragged battlefield, a stoic hero, ready to defend the keep.
Expect a body of work, and prepare to feel it.
