Why do we like this?
Suffolk duo Amethysts has just arrived on the scene with their debut single "My Love." It's a shiny piece of blissful electro-pop with a delivery as polished as their namesake suggests.
They embrace the male-female vocal dynamic and relaxed sliding guitars of fellow Brits Oh Wonder. Perhaps it's the combination of contrasting elements -- high and low, natural and manufactured -- that make this structure so effective, but it's definitely a satisfying approach in its balance.
Regardless of the reasoning, Amethysts present themselves with a strikingly complete sound for a new artist, leaving me intrigued to see what they'll offer next.
