Having written for some of the biggest names in pop (Rita Ora, Kelly Clarkson, Icona Pop and Adam Lambert, to name just a few), songwriter Ames is finally ready to carve out her own solo career with the release of debut single "Hold On."
A gentle synth-pop foot tapper with hints of folk, "Hold On" is an uplifting ditty. Ames unique voice carries the song while the compelling arrangement of organic and electronic instruments creates a feeling of warmth. Speaking on the track Ames had this to say:
I wrote “Hold On” as a letter to my younger self, an encouragement to hold on through the difficult times I had growing up gay in a fundamentalist Christian home. I wanted to use literal images of rituals that bull riders perform “warming the resin and pulling it right” before they’re about to experience a rough ride. In the choruses I describe the love I’ve now found (my fiancé) and the realization that it was all worth it in the end. If only I knew then, what I know now.
I'm really enjoying this one and looking forward to what Ames has in store next.
