Amen Dunes is the project of Damon McMahon, which began as collection of songs that he recorded in New York in 2006 -- but he never officially released them. He journeyed to China for few years until 2009, when the songs were picked up by Locust Music Records and turned into his first LP, dia. This prompted him to return to New York.
He has released three LPs since his return, and now he is gearing up for a fourth LP, Love. Damon McMahon has had a cast of rotating musicians join him in the studio and on stage, but he has two longstanding bandmates: Parker Kindred (drums) and Jordi Wheeler (guitar/piano).
"I Can't Dig It" is a strong indie rock track that features Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Efrim Menuck on lead guitar, Colin Stetson on sax, Parker Kindred on drums and percussions, and Damon doing his thing -- playing piano, synths, rhythm guitar, and vocals. This is a fun song that keeps you entertained for nearly five minutes as the melodies blend together.
Amen Dunes's upcoming LP, Love, is set for release on May 13 via Sacred Bones Records. If you're into this song, order the EP here.
