One of my favorite groups to listen to during summer is Amadou & Mariam, who have a very close relationship with Manu Chao. Fortunately for them, the blind couple lives in Bamako, where the temperature barely drops below balmy. But the same can't be said for those of us in North America and Europe. For us, it's cold. That means that while they might think their "summer" sound is appropriate to release right in January, they are wrong.
Then again, if this first track off their upcoming remixes album (due 1/1/11) is any indication of how good this will be, I can handle their short-sighted mistake.
Miike Snow, meanwhile, appear to be dipping their fingers into an endless number of tracks. I find that they're one of the few artists for which it is not easy to determine for which their are more: remixes of their original work, or work that they've remixed? That's why I've included as today's Bonus, a remix of a Miike Snow original by LightsoverLA. Fair and balanced. Tada!
