I have a confession. I have been a terrible blogger this month. In all honesty, I haven't had much to say and have been waiting to hear a track which draws me out of this wordless, stagnant black hole I've been floating in. Lucky me, a Friendly Fires remix came across my plate yesterday afternoon, a righteous take on the fantastic "Your Drums, Your Love" by AlunaGeorge.
The original (reviewed by Dwayne here) is an undeniably spectacular tune. Friendly Fires turns this ode to UK garage into sassy, confident masterpiece.
What is most likable about this remix is the convoluted experience it provides. Remixes are typically a very linear trajectory, with highs and lows an overall predictable structure. FF's production takes chances with the melody, tone, and flow, and the experience as a whole is a damn lovely thing. AlunaGeorge's vocals would be hard to botch; even so, let's tip our hats to Friendly Fires.
