It's wonderful seeing an act develop over a number of years, and Alta's growth is a perfect example. After dropping an EP late 2016, the Melbourne-based duo has released new work in the back half of this year, with each release feeling more complete and fully formed than the last.
They have always employed a range of influences to complete their music, but recently their music has fit together more seamlessly – with new single "Sentiment" an indication of this rise. Typically hypnotic vocals and stirring lyrics mixed with intelligent, catchy production is always a solid recipe, but Alta's work has just enough intrigue to feel fresh and interesting. They're a perfect antidote for those of you who want your pop music served with a twist.
I would never consider them an act to rest on their laurels given their search for new influences, but Alta is an act pretty close to their musical peak nonetheless.
