Do you ever wish the soft and poetic prose from Alt-J was a bit more, I don’t know, metal?
If you answered yes, you’re in luck. Two recent Relaxer songs have been given a startling treatment from metalcore act Code Orange.
Eric “Shade” Balderose, Code Orange’s guitarist and synth wizard, recently reworked Alt-J’s “Adeline” and “Hit Me Like That Snare.” Both tracks are unrecognizable.
"I wanted to dismantle the songs entirely and completely rebuild them as if they had come from a different world, and that's what I did. See the world with Code Orange vision. No boxes, no boundaries, no fear,” Shade said in a press release.
The once quiet “Adeline” has been devoured by jarring metallic clangs in this rework. The industrial sound will leave you in a cold, breathless sweat after the first few seconds. “Adeline” has become terrifying, but remains oddly appealing.
“It’s not often we get to collaborate with heavy artists so having Code Orange step up and give us two amazing remixes is a real treat,” Alt-J said.
Alt-J is currently on tour in the United States, and will continue to play other countries before 2017 draws to a close.
Enjoy, friends.
