All We Are and Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand recently teamed up to lay down a collaborative Speedy Wunderland single.
The outcome is "Heart Attack," a frenetic post-punk & disco-infused tune, and it's a seriously solid jam. The song begins with industrial percussive loops as funky post-punk guitar lines and late-night baselines shoot off with Alex Kapranos entering the track with a Baxter Dury-like approach to vocal delivery. There's a cut and paste feel to the vocals and lyrics across the track, with a collage of lines and melodies delivered playfully by Alex Kapranos and the Liverpool-based trio's Guro Gickling.
The entire song was recorded in a single day in true Speedy Wunderground style -- see the pointer below taken from the Speedy Wunderground's website:
"Recording of all records will be done in one day and finish before midnight. The recordings will be a snapshot of the day. Mixing will be done the day following the recording, also in one day only. This will prevent over-cooking and ‘faff’."
This is the 27th track in the label’s single series and is set for release as a limited edition 7” on the 5th of April, 2019.
