A slow-jam Bollywood-inspired House track might sound a bit off-kilter, but Olefonken somehow manages to remix it in such a way that the influences blend together seamlessly, creating a somewhat psychedelic, grooving offering that’ll challenge you not to sway along. Originally remixed from an ‘80’s Bollywood song called “Zindagi Meri Dance,” Olefonken’s version is aptly named “Meri Meri Dance Dance.”
It has kind of a smooth lounge feel to it, but with a fair amount of edge and funk thrown in for good measure. It’s never boring, and is certainly unique. The Hindi vocal samples included here and there make for quite an immersive experience, and the sitars lend an authentic enough feel to the track that the traditionality of the original still shines through but with a modern and contemporary twist.
