For a member of indie pop outfit Youngblood Hawke, Alice MK's solo work is surprisingly less shiny and more raw. It may not make you shout "oh whoa whoa's" to the sky, but it will definitely catch your interest and at least induce a small amount of hair flailing.
Her bright and emphatic voice is reminiscent of Metric, using minimal production and layered tracks to create a gritty, 90's throwback vocal. It's also got a chorus that will invade your brain for the rest of the week. Relying on energetic instruments, "All In Your Head" is a no-nonsense jam of unabashed individualism.
As Alice puts it:
"On a daily basis, we're barraged by images and ideas about how to look, how to live, and what to think. 'All in Your Head' celebrates shedding these limiting pressures in exchange for lives spent valuing our intrinsic worth and discovering our uniqueness."
Yes. 1000% yes.
