Alex G Bobby

Last Thursday, Alex G released "Bobby," announcing his upcoming album Rocket in the process. The next day I spent nearly the entirety of a six-hour drive up the west coast flooding my ears with it, summoning the kind of lazy stupor that only Alex G's smooth strums and careful lyrical meditations can provide. It's wonderful.

Banjo plucks, violin, and sittin' 'round the living room style harmonizing give this track a distinct country warmth despite the aching strain of the confession "I'd leave him for you / if you want me to" at the chorus, and there's a sweet comfort in those rough edges no matter where you might be listening.
