Why do we like this?
The Reverend's soulful and groovy cut from his 1983 The Belle Album is given a bit of a beef up for those who like to get down. As some of you may already know, "Georgia Boy" is a sweet piece of down-home country soul with an abundance of loose bluesy jams, but this rework flawlessly done by James DB is equipped with enough silky grooves that it gets right underneath the skin and demands repeated listens.
Once the track commences, it's clear that you're gonna dance. The downtempo beats and funkafied riffs textured with that rhythmic voice cultivates a sound that is familiar yet fresh. Al sings, "Just because I'm thinking about New York City"¦don't mean I ain't thinking about Georgia too." Whether it's NYC, Georgia or right back west to Cali, I'm pretty sure this get-down track will be flooding the funky dancefloors fairly soon.
