Why do we like this?
Right now I'm sitting in an area of South Africa called The Wilderness. True to its name, there's an abundance of greenery and rivers; it's probably one of the most picturesque settings I've blogged from.
Why am I here, you ask? Well, I've decided to hitch a ride with The Plastics and Al Bairre on their tour of the Garden Route (including stops in Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Jeffrey's Bay and George). It's a roughly 6 day journey that involves one big bus and a few extra cars; roughly 25 people all-in.
While you may be familiar with The Plastics (who have gotten a fair bit of love on Indie Shuffle), I figured it was time to properly introduce you to the folk pop sensibilities of Al Bairre. Based out of Cape Town, the band contains five members: Kyle Davis, Tom Kotze, Nick Preen and twins Tessa & Julia Johnson. They've been releasing music for a little over a year now, and in the process have built up a solid little following. Case in point: they've wrangled a busload of fans to follow them across half the country.
Grab more of their tunes via SoundCloud, and if you find yourself in South Africa, be sure to try and catch one of their live performances.
