A new act to mark down on your watch list is Brisbane's Airling (Hannah Shepherd). Make sure to underline and circle this one!
Her debut "Ouroboros" was received with open arms, with an abundance of support from local radio and throughout the blogosphere.
With such an outstanding debut in the bag, Shepherd has turned her attention to a new release, the similarly stunning "The Runner." This time around, she's taken on a much more sultry, R&B-influenced approach -- and doesn't miss a beat. Shepherd's dreamy vocals are always going to give this young talent a significant advantage, timid and breathy in parts, before unloading some seriously smokey choruses on her second home run.
Not surprisingly, this initial success has resulted in a number of high profile support slots, with Airling sharing the stage with the likes of James Vincent McMorrow and Asegir in the coming months on their trips down under. Hopefully there's much more music on the way, too.
