Afro Celt Sound System have been producing their unique blend of West African, Irish and Electronic music since the late nineties. Releasing their records on Peter Gabriel’s own label, Real World Records they have written a total of ten studio releases.
The title track “Seed” from their 2003 release kicks off with the desolate chime of resonated guitars with a wild west tremolo giving a nod to The Smiths infamous “How soon is now?”. The intro is soon met with a tribal echo that forges a pathway for the percussive back beat. A melody soon establishes itself and brings the whole track together forcing the listener deeper into another world full of life and joy. The earie atmosphere of suspense is only enhanced by the spine-chilling harmonica in the bridge that calls back to the almost wild west desert intro.
If you are looking for something different that fuses a variety of genres, then Seed by Afro Celt Sound System is a great place to start.
