Ohhhhhh, that syncopation. This is one sexy track.
Perth artist Adria has just released first single "Pull Me Under." It's very good, but that's no surprise considering that the track was co-written by Viktor Balter-Lundin (Lykke Li) and produced by Matthew Wiggins (Lorde, Florence & The Machine).
The track opens with a deep, dark, driving bass beat, lit up by subtle piano trickles. Adria's vocals have the most gorgeous tone, while the melody is seductive, husky, and so catchy.
The bass and beat do a really great job of anchoring the track down while melody floats up ahead, and the balance between the light and dark is really perfect throughout.
Simply oozing with cool sensuality, I love how intricate the percussive rhythms get throughout the choruses, while the bass twists and crunches to an almost industrial level at its most climactic moments.
The track is released ahead of her forthcoming debut EP. You can check out the gorgeous video clip right here.
